M&F Talent is partnering with a pioneering vertical farming company that’s redefining indoor agriculture and crop production. To support their rapid expansion, they’re hiring multiple Lead Growers for mid to senior-level cultivation roles across commercial and R&D farm sites in the Eastern U.S. These hands-on positions are perfect for experienced professionals in controlled environment agriculture (CEA) with expertise in high-value crop production. Lead Growers will oversee crop health, environmental controls, recipe development, and scaling strategies, while managing teams, optimizing yields, and implementing IPM protocols. The role involves executing trials, transitioning research protocols to commercial production, analyzing cultivation data, and coordinating with engineering and operations teams to solve system challenges. Candidates should have a bachelor’s degree in horticulture, agronomy, plant science, or related fields (or equivalent experience), 6–10+ years in CEA, and a proven track record in plant health management, crop steering, and R&D-to-production execution. This is a full-time position with a salary range of $80K–$140K, offering the chance to shape the future of vertical farming while leading innovative, high-tech indoor operations.

🏗️ Industry Snapshot: Smart Greenhouses vs. Vertical Farms

Smart greenhouses and vertical farms share a common goal—efficient, year-round food production—but they take different paths to get there. Smart greenhouses harness sunlight while using sensors, automation, and AI to fine-tune climate control. Vertical farms, by contrast, rely entirely on artificial lighting and stacked growing systems, maximizing output per square foot.

Greenhouses tend to be more energy-efficient, while vertical farms excel in urban areas where space is limited. Both models are advancing rapidly, and many operators now combine the two for hybrid systems that balance natural light with high-tech precision.

For job seekers, this convergence means more opportunities—from greenhouse engineers and system designers to data analysts and controlled environment specialists.
